Another Incorrect Map? I got an e-mail from the British blogger Matthew Turner regarding my previous post which showed that there is no connection between a country?s place in the World Economic Forum?s Global Competitiveness Index and its economic growth. He did a similar comparison between the place that countries got in the IMD rankings of competitiveness and economic growth 1994-2004. Similarly, he found no connection at all. What conclusions should the theorists behind the indexes draw from this? Perhaps that economic and social models that they consider competitive are not so in reality? They should seriously consider changing the maps to make them more in accordance with reality.
