Congratulations, Baroness Thatcher! Tonight, Margaret Thatcher celebrates her 80th birthday at a party with 650 guests, including the British Queen and Tony Blair. In the Daily Telegraph, some prominent people have made comments about her legacy. Read here. They do not exaggerate. Not only has she been as important for Britain, Europe and the world as they say - but it is also her own personal achievement, not some coincidence or result of somebody else′s ideas. Her principles and convictions changed the development of the Western world. An ever more socialist society became more market-oriented and Britain is today a very successful country. In fact, the strength of her ideas can be seen in the fact that also the Social Democrats of today support the market economy. Someone said that when Blair won the latest election that it was the seventh win for Thatcher. True, Blair has changed nothing substantially in Britain after her. And this not only spread to the rest of Europe but also, through her partnership with Ronald Reagan - who became President two years after she became British PM - made America great again. They saw clearly that the Soviet Union was not only an evil empire, but also a weak one that could be beaten. Totalitarianism cannot compete with the strength and development of a free society. Their struggle against naive Western politicians and the so-called peace-movement to be strong against the Soviet Union was right and essential. She is still the hero and saviour in the eyes of many people in Eastern and Central Europe. Have a great party, Baroness Thatcher!
