Victory for a Reform Government! No, not the victory of an old-fashioned red and green big government coalition i Norway. A victory of more importance to the world - and the global economy - is the success of Japan′s Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and his Liberal Democratic Party. Like the German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, he called for an early election. The aim was to gain confidence for a program of ambitious and important market-oriented reforms. His party now has 290 seats out of the total 480 in the parliament, an increase fom 212. Thereby, his chances to push through reforms are much greater.
