It?s Time for a Change! In the latest analysis of the current economic situation in Sweden from the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, the real GDP increase in 2005 is projected to be 1,7 %. This is one of the lowest figures in Europe. The investments in the private business is about 100 billion SEK (11 billion euro) lower than the EU average. And in a situation where the total unemployment is something like 20 %, the government has proposed a "job-package" which aims at creating 55 000 subsidised public jobs. The Confederation shows that even if that succeeds (highly doubtful), and even if those jobs would be counted as regular jobs (highly doubtful), the increase would not match the increase in the total labour force of working age. Thereby, the share actually working would still decrease. A different economic policy is possible. Other countries show it. And such a policy is needed.
