An Immoral Myth og Big Government. As I walked along a street in one of the wealthier parts of Stockholm yesterday, I saw a person who was most likely homeless. A tragic sight, naturally. These are often ordinary people who have experienced some terrible incident. And you see such people quite often in central Stockholm. When I see them, I hear politicians repeating that we need to have a big state to help the poor and disabled. In this country, we have the biggest public sector in the Western world - and still there are lots of homeless people who are not helped. It is just a big lie. A big state is of no help whatsoever for these people and it has never been. The high taxes don?t help the poor; if helping them was the aim, much lower taxes would be necessary. A big state is a way for politicians to run the lives for ordinary people. They take the high taxes and decide what people should do with their money - and 80 % of the taxes paid by an average person goes back to that same person. It is also a way to stay in power; keep people dependent on the state and they will obey. Nobody will ever dear to propose changes, there will always be losers in the short run. But in order to do this, those politicians have to uphold a myth which sounds better: it?s all about solidarity and helping. But that?s a sheer lie. When the Prime Minister on TV talks about his sense of justice, he thus speaks of something that all of his ideology and policies spit on every day.
