Gangster Regime. The regime in Belarus acted with somewhat suprisingly forceful brutality against the opposition before the elections. Clearly, had their message about their desire to join the European Union been honest, they would not have done this. Now, they will be out in the cold for a long time, perhaps deepening relations with Russia - which avoided condemning the actions. Clearly, Belarus is run by a gangster regime without insights about what makes a society successful. And of course, with a coward at the top, who doesn′t believe in his ability to compete on fair terms with his opponents.
