Neuro and Sudo? In the Financial Times today, Martin Taylor, former chief executive of Barclays, proposes that the euro be divided into two. The nothern countries, with their fiscal discipline and reformed economies could have one - the neuro. The southern countries, with their problems and lack of will or ability to do anything about them, could have the other, the sudo. The proposal is put forth with quite a bit of humour. It would undoubtedly solve some of the current imbalances. But it would put all the countries that really need to reform off the hook. They can just let the sudo lose its value and stick to their bad policies. That is not in their citizens′ best interest.
