Winners and Losers. This morning, I was on my way to Washington DC. Due to a storm in Amsterdam, however, there was no plane. I will thus leave tomorrow morning instead. Waiting for that information, I did get a good chance to read all the interesting articles of the latest Economist. The Charlemagne piece is particularly interesting in this edition. It cites several new and interesting facts from a new book about the gains in Europe due to globalisation. One fascinating point about the gains form imported goods is interesting. It takes an example of Ipods from China imported to the United States. It shows that only a tiny share of the price ends up with the producers in China, whereas many times more ends up with retailers and marketers in the US. Read it here.
