Reason: Goodbye to Big Government? The Reason Magazine is a very thorough, yet provocative and often funny, publication that stands for free minds and free markets. The Reason Blog is said to have about a million visitors a month. In the latest edition, the editor-in-chief, Nick Gillespie, quotes Bill Clinton when he said that "the era of big government is over". Government spending, however, increased during Clinton and even more under Bush. But still, the trend has been right, since public spending as a share of GDP has decreased in most of the Western world between 1993 and 2003. The facts supporting that, including a table, are taken from my book.
