Bloomberg: European Welfare Has Turned Into a Money-Go-Round. In a Bloomberg column today, Matthew Lynn writes about people?s dependency on the state in Western Europe. In Germany, for example, 42 per cent of the population is dependent on the state for their income. The reason is that high taxes - particularly on low incomes - lead to a situation where many people can?t live off their salary. Thus, they need contributions from the state - paid for aldready with their taxes. I am interviewed.
