Hear, hear, Fogh Rasmussen! The Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen proposes the creation of an Atlantic single marketplace. The EU and the US should, according to his proposal, tear down all barriers to free mobility between the two. And indeed it is a logic step following the fact that trade between the EU and the US is already two thirds of global trade. The fact that 85 per cent of US investments in professional, scientific and technical services take place in the EU is also an argument in favour. The creation of such a marketplace would boost economic growth in both places. But as Fogh Rasmussen points out, is should not be an excluding market. This is an ambitious proposal before the upcoming EU-US summit in Vienna.
