30-39-50. This is one way to describe some relevant facts from the latest figures form Eurostat about the tax pressure in EU-25. There are several countries - Ireland, the Baltic states, some in Central Europe - that have tax pressures of about 30 per cent of GDP. (They also happen to have the highest economic growth rate.) The average tax pressure in EU-25 is 39 per cent. Then, one single country has a tax pressure which stands out, the only one beginning with the number five: Sweden, at 50,5 per cent of GDP.
