International Perspective. I have noticed that as an MP, I use an international perpective quite often. In today′s world of globalization, international organizations and interdependence, I think that is relevant.
During the past five years, I gave 45 major lectures and speeches in 22 countries. This took place at conferences, corporate gatherings, think-tanks, universities and political parties. Many were in Brussels and Washington DC.
Topics usually covered economic policy, labour market, welfare services - and why and how to reform. To a large extent, they followed the release of my books European Dawn and The Guide to Reform. Usually, the events were accompanied by media. They are all desbribed on this blog.
This provided me with valuable contacts, impressions of other countries policy cultures and new knowledge. This is of great use when analysing society and formulating policy ideas.
In all these places, I have been asked why I advocate economic freedom when my home country is socialist and works well. Tomorrow, I will respond to that once again, hopefully making the picture even more clear!
