Defending the Use of Force. A good speech yesterday by US President Barack Obama in Oslo, accepting the Peace Prize. While being clear that war should be avoided, he defended - in moral terms - the use of force to defend freedom. He stated that there is evil in the world and that peace protesters would not have stopped either Hitler or Al-Qaeda. Necessary for his home audience, of course, but important principles nonetheless.
