Danes Recruiting Swedes. Recently, the industry federation of Denmark, Danish Industry, went to the south of Sweden, Skåne, to help Danish companies recruit people. It is part of a service they have for their member companies. Apparently, they managed to recruit some 1000 Swedes to work in Denmark - in one day. This might be a positive sign showing that national borders have little importance in Europe these days. It also shows clearly that Denmark has succeeded in the labour market but Sweden has failed. The flexible Danish labour market has almost led to a shortage of labour - and in Sweden, the case is the opposite. Hopefully, reforms in the years to come in Sweden will change that situation and both Denmark and Sweden will have to turn elsewhere to attract people.
