The End of Libertarian Policies? At this blog, there will be quite a lot of focus on Sweden during the coming four weeks, due to the general election on September 17. But there will still be some international comments - not least since those perspectives are quite lacking in the national elections debate. Here is an op-ed in the FT a few days ago, by Michael Lind. His message is that the free-market renaissance with Thatcher and Reagan is over and will never return. Now, the choice is between big government socialism or big government conservativsm. I think that he is right about the last ten years, but wrong about the future. In my view, there are several substantial signs of the failure of both of these and again a longing for something more free-market radical. But the article is worth reading for its description of the development during the last years.
