The Direction Has Been Right. As the table below shows, marginal income taxes have decreased substantially in the Western world during the last 25 years or so. An effect, no doubt, of Thatcherism and Reaganomics. These countries don?t punish education, extra work or success in general as they did. Tax pressures may not have decreased more than marginally, but this has been an important development indeed. (Thanks, Janerik.)
